Newsletter Winter 2015
Welcome to our winter newsletter. After a very busy November and Christmas period we are now all looking forward to an equally eventful 2015!
Graham Care Awards Winner
Care assistant Stefan Roman was our winner at the Graham Care Awards ceremony in November. Thank you to everyone who nominated members of staff. So many of you said it was difficult to choose just one person but I am sure you’d agree that Stefan is a worthy winner. For more photos and videos of our Awards ceremony on our website click here.
Update on Buddy Programme
We are delighted to have our first group of Buddies on board and feedback from residents, families, staff and the Buddies themselves has been very encouraging. Our Buddies are enhancing the work our staff are doing to enrich the lives of our residents. If you have some time to spare and are interested in becoming a Buddy for one of our residents there is more information on our Buddy Programme web page.
Dementia Support Group
Our October meeting welcomed Dr Karen Graham to talk about relationships and communications and many relatives told me how helpful they had found this discussion. In our next meeting we will be discussing the importance of stimulation and activities for residents with dementia.
A key part of our approach is to learn more about an individual resident’s life history and to help them keep up to date with what is happening in the lives of their family and friends.
News in Brief
- Our pat-dog Frankie is proving a huge hit with residents and families alike. I bring her into the home 2 or 3 days a week so look out for us!
- We will be taking part in the national Care Home Open Day on Friday 19 June. More details will be on our website soon.
