Newsletter Summer 2013

Welcome to the Hazeldene House newsletter, keeping you informed of the news and events in our care community.

General Update

If you have visited Hazeldene lately, you will know that we are undergoing a dramatic transformation creating state-of-the-art, purpose-built care suites for residents with nursing care needs. The suites allow residents to live “behind their own front door” and provide sufficient space for them to socialise with their friends and families in privacy when they wish.

With the works getting closer to completion, we will soon be ready to open the 40 care suites in the second half of the new building. You can follow progress at http://grahamcare.co.uk/new-developments/hazeldene/.

We are extremely proud to have linked up with Age UK Tunbridge Wells and our Community Mental Health Team in offering support to people with dementia and their carers in the local community. A warm welcome to Jo Marks (Age UK Day Centre Manager) and all of the support group members.

Our brand new community day centre is the venue for twice weekly support meetings run by the fantastic Age UK team. Feel free to contact me if you want more information about these meetings or visit: http://www.ageuk.org.uk/tunbridgewells

What’s happening at Hazeldene?

Another exciting initiative we have introduced recently is our new Family Support Group. Every two months we have a get-together with the families and friends of our residents to talk about life with dementia and how best to support our loved ones. We will be having guest speakers such as Dementia Specialists and other key professionals. The aim is for people to share experiences and create a supportive network to help deal with all of the challenges that come with dementia.

We also have a packed entertainment programme planned for the Summer with trips out, entertainers and a whole host of other events. We would love to welcome you to any of these events. If you are interested in helping or participating please contact us.

We plan to send you a regular newsletter from now on. So please support our new and growing community. Our passion is relationship-centred care that puts family, friends, professionals and carers at the heart of our residents lives. We love seeing friends and family visiting and taking part in our events. Thanks for your continued support.
